Venice Agendas 2019 Open Call. The Market: What is the Value of Art

14 Jul 2019 to 11 Aug 2019

Venice Agendas celebrates twenty years of critically engaged projects, leading the field in discussions and events at the Venice Biennale since 1999.

How does the art market work? What are the opaque forces that control the art market and how do they impact artists, institutions, museums, galleries and education? Who are the beneficiaries and who are the losers? Initiating an analysis through research, interviews, round table discussions and commissions, Venice Agendas intends to explore the impact of the art market on the territory and environment that artists, institutions, curators and writers navigate to develop, create, present, promote and discuss contemporary artwork.

Venice Agendas 2019 The Market is our most ambitious project to date. The project began at the Venice Biennale in May with a series of interviews and round table discussions led by Jean Wainwright, Sacha Craddock and Fari Bradley and an instagram commission by the artist Nicky Hirst. In July we will launch two national open calls.
