The Jerwood Writer in Residence 2020 programme is a paid developmental opportunity for outstanding early-career arts writers. It includes a £1500 fee and access to a £500 fund for self-directed professional development activity. Writers are tasked with responding to Jerwood Arts’ programme of exhibitions and events in London with the aim of opening up wider debate around the enquiries and themes explored.
There are two Jerwood Writer in Residence opportunities in 2020. Each residency is six months long and runs across two exhibitions. Writers are supported by the Jerwood Arts team and there is an additional fund to support travel for writers based outside of London. The newly added development fund element can be used for activity to help strengthen your writing practice, such as mentoring, training programmes, networking, research and/or attendance at appropriate events and conferences.
The residency aims to support long-term engagement with our exhibitions and events programme. It is aimed at writers in the early stages of their careers who would benefit from a platform, and are interested in developing imaginative and interrogative responses.
The deadline for applications is 5pm, Monday 4 November 2019.
