First World War Poetry Event

Details

12 Jun 2014
Opening times:

5pm - 8pm

As we approach the 100-year anniversary of the start of the First World War, Brent Libraries, Arts and Heritage would like to invite you to an evening poetry workshop exploring Brent during the First World War. Libraries and archives across England are working with local communities and national partners on a Digital War Memorial with the help of National Lottery and Arts Council England funding. With the help of talented poet Nick Makoha (http://nickmakoha.com/about/) and drawing inspiration on the rich collections held by Brent Archives, this workshop will stimulate reflection and create poetic or creative responses to Brent during the First World War. Poems created during this session will be added to a dedicated area within Historypin (www.historypin.com), which will launch on 4 August. The event will also provide unique opportunity to look at archival material, and to be part of the start of Brent’s commemorative events until 2018. The workshop will run from 5pm-8pm in the Wembley Library Café. This event is FREE to attend, but booking is essential. Sign up to book your place here: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/first-world-war-poetry-workshop-tickets-11... We look forward to welcoming you on the 12th!
