ArtEvict live art
6pm, Saturday 22nd May 2010
195 Mare Street, Hackney, London, E8
ArtEvict is a monthly live art night hosted in disused buildings and squats around London to highlight the necessary creative use of empty spaces. This month we are north of the river in one of the last remaining 18th Century villas in Hackney, now used as an autonomous community art centre after having falling into disrepair. Since its conception in November last year, ArtEvict has established itself as an open platform for artists to show new work in live art. On a zero budget, ArtEvict is about showing that great things can happen with very little resources.
The spring edition of ArtEvict will play host to a new set of artist collaborations and cross- fertilizations specifically for the event. Vago Tedosio and Vanessa Abreu are working on a new score to collaborate through music and manipulation. Live art collective Your Current Balance Is, present a cocoon of delusion and repression. Richard Taylor and Kimbal Bumstead will present a performance based on a 4 day drawing residency exploring intimacy and documentation.
Other artists include: Kiki Taira, Heather Jones and Matthew Kay, Benjamin Sebasian, Begoña 'Shirak' Fernandez, Nathalie Bikoro, Wiracha Daochai and Hayley Noble.
