Portfolio Open 2012

Rebecca Hunt's paintings are of supernatural sculptures and landscapes, inspired by the totems, rituals and structures used throughout history to manipulate or find favour with the forces of destiny.

The environments, both invented and recognisable, blend to provide a habitat for mysterious and cartoonish animals. Utilising the enduring attraction of superstition and myth, Hunt's work incorporates the understanding that whilst all cosmic appeasements are destined to fail, the appeal of these winks at providence remains largely irresitible.
