TJAŠA IRIS was born in Slovenia, Central Europe, studied at International School of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy. Later on for a semester at Staffordhire University in UK and at Fine Art and Design School Academie Minerva in Groningen, The Netherlands, where she earned her M.A. degree in Painting in 1995. Since then she had over 15 solo shows in Europe and Asia and over 50 group exhibitions worldwide. Her works can be found in private and public collections on all 6 continents.
Her last important exhibitions were at Jamjuree Art Gallery an Art Museum of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok in January 2014, at Chiang Mai Art Museum in November 2013 and at The Substation Art Center in Singapore in 2012. She is currently preparing for a big solo exhibition at MINIMU Art Center in Trieste, Italy for June – July 2015.
The artist has as well a long career in art management. She helped establish Gallery A+A in Venice in years 1998 – 2001 (Owned by republic of Slovenia.) and helped with organization Slovenian Pavilion at Venice Art Biennale for two times during these years. After that she was a founder and director of Artist Retreat Villa Flora, Branik in Wine country of Slovenia where she also run her annual Artist in Residency Programs for international artists in years 2005 – 2010. She has a good understanding of American culture. She lived in California for 2 years 2001 – 2004. She also owned a cultural travel agency that was organizing painting vacations (holding painting workshops) in Tuscany, Italy, Provence, France, Bali, Indonesia and at other beautiful locations around the world in the years 1998 – 2012. The workshops participants who came to her workshops were from about 25 countries and from all 6 continents, but most came from US and were from all walks of life, from directors and founders of important contemporary art museums in the States to people on Wall Street, famous architects, designers, professors… Her new project of an art gallery in Singapore will be a gallery that will be representing the best international mid-career artists.
