“I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration.”
The essence and body of Pia Love work is to celebrate, entice and flirt with the spirit of the wild woman. With each painting the importance is to connect with the power of mother earth. Main body of the work is on recycled materials. Such as plywood, as it lends itself to a beautiful textures and layers that have organically manifested to enrich the canvas before she adorns them with empowered images of voluptuous women. Many of the art pieces speaks of appreciation and respect for international cultures and traditions.
Recently Pia Love has started to explore the space between dance/movement and her 2D art accompanied with live music. In 2012 she started performing with award winning musician Muntu Valdo, doing live painting and dancing across London, UK. This resonates with her roots as a dancer and performer. For Cognac Mogul Courvoisier 500, she did a fully combined experiment of dancing whilst painting. This has led her to take these two mediums to the next level, producing multidisciplinary art projects like FRIDA – Female Revolution In Art & Dance. The FRIDA combines spoken work, film, dance, live music and live painting to create one moving and living art instillation. The goal with such projects is to engage with audiences and create space enchanted with inspiration and education.
“My quest with thy art is to bring balance into our patriotic society and birth diamonds of healing, love and beauty.”
