Minjoo Kim is a narrative painter who was born in South Korea and is currently living in London, UK. Her works are to explore her genuine form of identity based on the present time experiences. She places herself in various imaginary stories and situations as a process of defining her true self. The most important method of research on herself is the emotion of isolation. Physically she belongs to the image as a protagonist but when you examine the underlying story, she appears as the one who feels isolated from the narrative. She tries to perceive herself as an individual who is living a part of a certain society and culture. In that sense, her narratives are mostly generated from her daily life experiences. That is why she frequently gets inspired by various culture and life images from social media. As an artist who has an outstanding ability of depicting emotion from portraits and body figures, she constantly makes drawings of them and actively apply them to her paintings. Now she is working on discovering her latest version of identity as a stranger in UK.
