Michael Delacruz

I aman artist and art theorist currently living and working in London, United Kingdom. Originally educated in Art History (Columbia University), and Operations Research (Stanford University), I spent my early careeras an officer in the United States Marine Corps and in U.S. Army Special Operations and Defense Intelligence. I most recently served as counterinsurgency operations analyst for the Office of theSecretary of Defense, Washington D.C. beforebeginning a PhD in Fine Art (painting) at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London in 2008. My current area of research is in the applicability of Attic tragedyas a model for contemporary art's engagement in the public sphere, particularly with regard to the collectivejustification for and social cost ofwarfare.My anticipated degree awardisin Fall 2013.
