MARK NADER

Bio:

I am a London based artist and teaching fellow at Reading University, Art Department. I appropriate and subvert imagery drawn from historical sources to produce collage. Exploring iconography and the ideas of exchange and theft, works display wild stereotypes and cultural ignorance as a result of haphazard reliance of social media and uninformed understandings of culture. My recent work has used ideas around trade initially triggered by my heritage being half Mexican and half British. This has now expanded from conversations with other artists and research, using influences of visual language from across the globe.

In 2014 I was included in the Thames and Hudson publication, 100 Painters of Tomorrow. The consequence of this was invitations to show work in group exhibitions in New York, Antwerp, Prague and London.
