Creating works of art has always been a somewhat therapeutic experience for me, used as a way to cope with strong emotions for as long as I can remember. This is something that I continue to do throughout my professional practice. By using paint to explore all aspects of my life, my identity is never fixed and life experiences intermingle. Often I find myself concentrating on the less favourable aspects of my life, such as emotional and psychological issues and trauma. It seems that no matter what the subject of the painting or drawing actually is, the issues always arise within the image, thus both my paintings and my drawings are done in a very controlled manner, often using a linear style, creating constant strikes that come together to form the image. Each strike represents an emotion and has its own story; because of this, I feel that every piece of my work is a self-portrait.
