Recent Graduate in Fine art Painting. Currently working as a freelance artist on commissions for private clients and commercial commissioners, my biggest to date being Swiss RE, former owners of the Gherkin in the city.

My work is an exploration of line, volume, colour, texture, illusions and shapes imbued with a sense of frenetic movement, humour and pathos in a dialogue of painterly abstract forms. I intend to create idiosyncratic, personally reflective paintings that investigate the space between abstraction and representation of urban references, geometric and architectural forms and interplay between gestural marks and surface. Within my work there is a frantic energy that pulsates on the canvas. Emotions are entwined in a frenzy of marks; teasing, worrying, eroding and undermining marks are contrasted with references to pop culture and wry humour; poppy forms and enticing bright colours. Reflections of day-to-day musings using a diagrammatical style, including stencils of mesh grids create an industrial feeling; pencil marks depicting thought and process, and manipulation of paint to create illusions and texture are strong stylistic tendencies in my practice. Muted colours and vivid fluorescents create complex surfaces loaded with meaning and experimentation. Elements of decaying structures and machines which are nonsensical, frantic and crazy with no stability or real functioning process reference emotions and concerns that we face on a day-to-day basis. They reflect anxiety experienced in socially awkward situations where people find themselves out of their depth and immersed in social situations in which they don’t feel comfortable. Situations that force you to act and be a certain way despite the conflict you may quietly feel about being someone different in order to conform. These painting do not conform. They are different and on the surface seem mischievous, buoyant, dexterous and fun but through considered mark making and motifs relating to anxiety and erosion within urban infrastructures they are precarious and generate a nervous energy ready to implode at any given second.
