My name is Lindo Khandela and I am a UEL graduate, currently studying my MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, due to graduate in June. My art practice consists mainly of, but is not limited to painting/mixed media. The pieces that I create are detailed with layers of patterns that are influenced by my cultural background as a native of South Africa. I am also influenced by music, literature, and fashion amongst many other things.
My palette is chaotic, vivacious and bursting with colour. I choose to work with a variety of colour as it enables each piece to become unique. My artwork is bold and unapologetic. My subject matter is personal and at times social but it can also be quite playful.
My favourite mediums to work with are acrylic paint and paint markers as they allow me to explore my subject matter rapidly. I also enjoy working with glitter and embellishments. There is a sense of fluidity in my practice and in future I aim to expand to other disciplines.
For me it is important to create artwork that is not only meaningful but also aesthetically pleasing.
