Bio:

Kadie Salmon is a Scottish artist (b. 1986) currently living and working in London. Since graduating with an MFA in Sculpture in 2009 at Edinburgh College of Art, Kadie has exhibited internationally with most recent exhibitions in Edinburgh at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, in Finland at Galleri Gro and London where she co-curated the exhibition Concrete Fictions with Fred Mann at New Art Projects (2015). Kadie has recieved awards, funding and residencies for her work which continue to aid the development of her practice: with most recent support from The Hope Scott Trust (2015), Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop Micro Residency (2015) and LKV residency programme, Trondheim, Norway (2016).

"Kadie re-constructs romanticised tableaux through the use of photography and made-models which are manipulated back in to a sculptural form. Her own image often haunts her work, evoking enigmatic private fantasies."

Kadie is a co-founder of artist run collective Captain Lightfoot. Set up in 2012 the collective work collaboratively with international organisations and artists to instigate exhibitions and projects that explore narrative in visual art. With an interest in how the viewer can be led through an exhibition and experience artwork in an 'unconventional' gallery space, the collective explore how a work can stand by itself as a self-contained object whilst simultaneously absorbing, and playing with or against the distinct characters and histories of the space it occupies. Recent exhibitions have included 'No Heroics Please’ at the Crypt Gallery in London, 'Captain Lightfoot Presents’ as part of Edinburgh Art Festival, ‘The Usher’ in collaboration with Novia University, Finland, and upcoming exhibition How to Be Both at F14 Gallery, Germany in April 2016.
