Jia-Chiann Ingrid Hu
<p class="nl_date">Ingrid received her MA in Scenography from Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London in 2002 and has since been working in theatre and in multidisciplinary design in the UK and internationally.
<p class="nl_date">She was one of the early members of the award winning Heatherwick studio in London. During her 7 years engagement with the studio, Ingrid held various roles and had involvement in a wide range of projects with clients such as the British Council, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the V&A Museum.
<p class="nl_date">Through Heatherwick studio Ingrid has established a network of specialist collaborators/makers in various fields, from metallurgy, ice construction, balloon technology to rammed earth building, in addition to professional trades and consultants in the design industry.
<p class="nl_date">Ingrid appreciates the poetics and the experiential quality of both nature and built environments. This has led her to explore other disciplines that she believes are fundamental to her understanding of humans and the space they inhabit, think about, and feel.
<p class="nl_date">She works with a wide range of materials and techniques and is particularly interested in the interplay of textures, light and colour. Her scenography work often employs kinetics as a visual language.
<p class="nl_date">Ingrid is originally from Taipei, Taiwan, and has lived in Hong Kong and Canada before settling in the UK. Currently based in London, she is a member of Society of British Theatre Designers and a tutor at Central St Martins College of Art and Design.
