Hettie James’ artwork is an interchange of two-dimensional and three-dimensional
elements brought together in assemblages and installations. Comprised of drawings,
collages and found objects, her pieces use temporary fixtures to keep each element’s
structure wholly intact so that they can be re-used, redefined or separated completely.
Her practice is set within a conceptual framework of a theatre building, where she
explores perception, paradoxes and the concepts of repetition and grids.
