I am a writer and visual artist based in London. I am interested in the interaction between technology and society. Each technological innovation we introduce is an experiment - we are all participants, willing or not. How do apparently physical tools speak to the spiritual part of ourselves? Currently I am researching substations and pylons using various media: installation, paint, textile and digital art. The structures involved in electricity transmission are powerful symbols of our technological age and its associated contradictions: the illusory mastery of our material environment, physical networks tangibly connecting our societies, while the warnings and danger surrounding the structures themselves can suggest feelings of dependence and disconnection.
