Gabriele Paoli, visual and dark humoured director, based in London and available for international bookings.
His career in the Entertainment Industry started at very early age. At age of nine, he got involved in PontederaTeatro and the Workcenter of the wonderful Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards. Being greatly inspired by theatre, Gabriele followed his passion and went on to stage several productions throughout Italy.
In 2000 Gabriele left Pisa, his hometown to study Entertainment at University of Bologna that therefore lead him to continue his studies at the prestigious Cinecittà Studios in Rome with a master in Cinema and Tv.
In 2001 he got the big opportunity to work as intern in Steven Spielberg‘s Minority Report, filmed in US, Washington DC.
Four years later he joined the successful Italian TV talent show called Amici di Maria de Filippi as PA. (CANALE 5- Mediaset Group). In 2006 he started his career as a music video director which lead him to win an award at the Videoclip Phone Festival, held by Warner Music Italy. His music videos will be broadcasted frequently on MTV Italy and across the main TV channels.
In the same year Gabriele had the chance to work as set PA for the BBC/HBO Rome II TV series filmed in Cinecittà Studios.
From 2009 to 2011, Gabriele took a position as Teacher of Music Video Production in Cinecitta’ Studios Academy, where he taught all aspects of music video and television production to students aged from 18-25 alongside a talented team of entertainment industry professionals.
In 2010 he directed the short film Coincidenze (Coincidences) based on the popular novel by Stefano Benni in collaboration with the Italian publisher Feltrinelli.
Consistently pushing boundaries and personal goals, Gabriele has relocated to London to expand his potential as he moves further expanding his horizons in Photography alongside his unshakeable commitment to film. His art experience has allowed him to have a creative and unique outlook in the works he creates.
In 2014 he staged a new writing Weight off my Shoulders at the Redgrave Theatre in Bristol produced by the Italian Cultural Centre.
In early 2015 he was selected by Taking the Mick Company to stage the play The Mountain Bluebird at The Courtyard Theatre in London, written by Jamie Eastlake.
Although Gabriele has many inspirations, the dark and surreal imagination of Tim Burton and the creative narrative ability of Jean Pierre Jeunet are the two most influential that he sees as directly contributing to the essence of his creativity. He loves the lesser-known stories of Chekhov and Tennessee Williams psycho-dramas. He can easily get lost for hours in the verses of Shakespeare and John Keats.
Recently he has been working with XYZ in shooting the new campaigns for Ray Ban, Louis Vuitton Accessories, Bea’s Cake Bloomsbury, Caffeina Company. He’s a freelance photographer for Regency Studios shooting model’s fashion portraits. From August 2015 he also collaborates with Magnet.me shooting corporates and interiors for Hailo, Royal Bank of Canada, Go Cardless, Vodafone, NHS.
In October 2015 he created Artarchia Festival. An exciting path throughout the Arts and Beauties of Tuscany.
He also collaborates as a videographer for the digital Daily Express and OK! Magazine.
