I work in theatre as a writer, dramaturg and creative producer. My writing for performance experiments with dramatic form and aims to improve the text’s inherent theatricality, inducing shifts in the conventional relationship between spectators and performers.

By dramaturgy I mean devising ways to facilitate collective theatre-making processes through observation, notation, feedback and montage of performers’ physical and vocal improvisations. I act as the “external eye” (and body and mind) during the process of performance composition.

By writing for performance I mean developing texts that feature ‘immanent theatrical’ qualities. As practice research my work aims at achieving an open yet cohesive dramaturgy that stimulates the actors’ spontaneous reaction to text beyond conventions of psychological interpretation.

By creative producing I mean combining the functions of production and dramaturgy in order to best present work to an audience. The benefits of this approach are highlighted in my unpublished essay On Producing and Dramaturgy in Performance (free to download from this site).

I trained at Goldsmiths University in Writing for Performance and Dramaturgy MA 2015. I trained at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in Creative Producing MA 2013.
