Enza Galantini, after earning a degree in Stage Design from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan in 1992, has worked as Stage and Costume designer at Teatro alla Scala of Milan, where she had also the opportunity to design shows with the Ballet group of the most prestigious Italian Theatre and to work for Sartoria Teatrale Brancato. After this experience, she attended the course of Alberto Garutti and Anna Sostero at the Brera Academy. She took part in different workshops including, in 2004, Domus Academy, Art Experience “No Vetrines No Museum Just a Lot a People” with artists R. Tiravanija, P. Parreno, P. Huyghe, in Venice. She continued her research from the threshold of the observation. This inclination was also determined by the nature of her work, which at the time demanded intimate reflection and a very personal, fruition. The distance taken was important and lasted a long time until it became urgent the need of displaying the work made so far. Following an encounter with Lucie Fontaine in 2009, the artist decided to showcase her work in a solo exhibition of a retrospective nature in three episodes: “ non ci sono più zanzare …" In 2011 her solo show at galleria Upp in Venice and it was followed by her solo show at DNA projectbox, where she presented a site specific work as if to emphasize her connection with the lagoon city. She has taken part in several group shows, among the others: Kunstverein Neukölln, Berlin, D (2014), Kunsthalle Eurocenter, Lana (2014), Marianne Boensky Gallery, New York (2011) and at “Focus Italy. Domesticity” curated by Lucie Fontaine within the 5th Prague Biennale, Prague ( 2011). In 2010 she was part of the group show “Il raccolto d’autunno continua ad essere abbondante” curated by Milovan Farronato and Chiara Agnello at Viafarini in Milan and at No Soul For Sale – A Festival of Independents – X INITIATIVE in New York. After spending about a year in her studio in a relatively isolated place, she decided to counterbalance this last experience by sharing a studio with other artists at VIR Viafarini-in-residence, Milan. Since summer 2015, she lives and works in London. In 2006 she was part of the project " Drawings From Lightning ", curated by Laura Santamaria at Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, Milan and at CHOISI-ONE AT A TIME, Lugano Switzerland and also with the same project at Madeinbritaly, London (2017).
Since 2015 she lives and works in London.
