I am a London-based textile artist and educator whose work explores personal stories and collective memories contained within textiles and artefacts.
Layering, patching and tearing become metaphors for meaning, known or lost, and the gaps and spaces in our conversations with the past. Work which on the surface seems fragile and decorative sometimes has a problematic or painful narrative which can be suggested through text, pattern and stitch.
I trained in Fine Art Textiles at Goldmiths College, University of London and later studied textiles and papermaking in Japan. Current work represents a return to my interest in stitch, paper and print.
