Conrad Armstrong

Location: London

Conrad Armstrong is a multi disciplinary artist currently living and working in Glasgow. Born in London 1989, they have been mentored as protegee to renowned British Artist Maggi Hambling CBE since 2008. Armstrong has developed a unique artistic practise, abandoning the traditional canvas for a radical material process that involves layers of paint and vibrant industrially coloured plastic melted together with fire. Armstrong creates images through their destruction, a method that imitates the germination of seeds in forest fires.

Armstrong was described by art critic Norman Rosenthal as a ‘Contructivist Expressionist’. Featured as one of the top 10 artists to watch out for in 2017 by Artists and Illustrators Magazine, and has been featured in Articles by Love Magazine, ID, Vice, Judas Magazine, The Londonist, The Quietus, Nonagon (Hong Kong), Saatchi Gallery Magazine, So It Goes Magazine (USA), Another Magazine and FAD Magazine. Described by Jake Chapman as “one of the most exciting emerging artists in London, morphing images of bucolic beauty together with a disturbed dystopian vision. “

"The progress of an artist is a continual self-sacrifice, a continual extinction of personality" - T.S. Eliot
