Charlotte Lucy Whitehead
I am currently living between Liverpool and London after completing my BA Drawing (Fine Art) Hons at Camberwell College of the Arts, London, where I gained a 2:1. I have furthered my technical understanding of both drawing and painting by completing the ‘Anatomy for Artists’ course at University College London and taking painting classes at the London School of Painting and Drawing.
My practice is primarily in portraiture and although I work in various media in order to appropriately depict an individual and their own personal story, my work is rooted in drawing.
This year I was interviewed for East London Lines about a collaborative project my sister and I are working on. Entitled ‘A portrait of East London’ we are conducting interviews and drawings of contributing members of the Hackney and Tower Hamlets community. My work has also been featured in ArtWednesday, for their Artist of the Week section and in New Turn Magazine. My portrait ‘The Plumber’ was shortlisted for the Hermione Hammond Bursary drawing award 2013 and pre-selected for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
