Beatrice Mayfield specialises in hand constructed, embellished and embroidered textiles. Using a range of traditional techniques, stitches and processes pieces incorporate a high level of craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Fabrics will often become three dimensional using layering, pleating, quilting or raised work . Intricate areas of stitch or embellishment may be subtle or hidden only glimpsed and coming to life as a fabric moves on the body. Colour palettes are tonal and texture is used to create shade or depth.
The studio produces:
· Signature collections
· Bespoke fabrics & one-off commissions
· Accessory ranges
Beatrice originally trained at Chelsea College of Art, graduating in the early 90's. She has since undertaken courses at the Royal School of Needlework and worked with Elisabeth Roulleau.
