Ania Mokrzycka works with video, still images, objects, sound and text to create affective, soporific spaces evocative of what can be called the strangely feminine. Her practice revolves around the exploration of female desire and the ways it can be represented and celebrated on its own terms, placed outside of the system of identity politics and evading the male gaze. She is interested in female eroticism that can be quiet but excessive at the same time; desire that is more internalised than reactive and has a liquid quality to it.
She has recently won the main prize at Lava Avant-Garde Film Festival in Krakow and has an upcoming solo show in 2018, alongside various other projects.
She is a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art.
