Andrea Stokes

Andrea Stokes is a visual artist living and working in London. She uses diverse media and approaches to interrogate meanings imbedded within sites spaces and objects.
Andrea studied Sculpture at Liverpool Polytechnic and Experimental Media at the Slade School of Art.
In 2004 Andrea was selected to be part of "Arttextiles 3", a survey of 18 British artists referencing textiles, at Bury St.Edmunds Art Gallery and subsequently touring the UK.
In 2006 she was awarded the Fleming Trust Residency at Hospitalfield House in Arbroath which resulted in the publication of "The Book of Elizabeth" published by The Hungry Dog Press.
In 2011, she was invited to take part in the touring show "Beyond Pattern", curated by Oriel Davies. She was commissioned to create an installation at Thelma Hulbert Gallery in 2013 and also that year was awarded a 1 month residency in Upernavik, Northern Greenland
Andrea teaches BA Fine Art at Kingston University.
