Applications are open for artists to hold Peer Forum at Horniman Museum and Gardens from January 2020 onward. Peer Forum, Artquest’s annual Peer Mentoring programme aims to assist artists by providing them with the funding, space and resources necessary to establish their own peer mentoring groups. We particularly welcome applications from artists who have a research-based practice, an interest in working with museums, and work that engages with themes and issues which are of interest to us and our visitors. These include climate change and museums; the impact of colonial history and historic collections on contemporary museum practice; and socially engaged collaborative programmes which help build creative networks. We welcome a broad range of artistic practices, from visual arts, performance-based, sound and sonic, and curatorial practice. Horniman Museum and Gardens will provide a meeting space either in its Meeting Room, Gardens Pavilion or other suitable space depending on the days that the meetings will be held. If desired by the selected group, there is opportunity to engage with Curators of all collections, Learning and Engagement professionals and Producers of the creative programme. The selected artist will receive an all-inclusive award of £1,800 to run 6 peer mentoring sessions over a 6 month period with a regular group of 10-12 other artists.
