Graham is a Scottish born artist based in East London. He originally trained at Edinburgh College of Art before retraining as a lawyer and practicing law for 8 years in Geneva, Paris and London. He has since returned to painting full time. Recent exhibitions include the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2015, the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition 2014, the New English Art Club Annual Exhibition 2014 and the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition 2014.
He is interested in architecture and urban spaces, in particular the iconic tower blocks built throughout London, Glasgow and more widely the UK in the 60's and 70's. His paintings, drawings and prints depict these buildings and their surrounding environments.
His focus for the past two years has been the rapidly changing landscape of East London. More recently, he has been working on a series of paintings and prints of the Red Road flats in Glasgow, the remaining blocks of which are earmarked for demolition in 2016. His aim is to capture in one respect the grandeur of these iconic buildings and separately their deterioration.
He works principally in acrylics and generally works from photographs and drawings in an attempt to accurately represent the subject he is painting whilst applying the paint in a way that incorporates elements of abstraction in his work.
