The Lottery Show at studio1.1 is what it says: a four-week show as part of the gallery's 2018 programme, chosen by the drawing from a hat of a numbered ticket on the Sunday of the Frieze weekend. For £10 we are offering a limited edition A5 print, this year by artist Jeremy Willett, whose show with David Small ran last month in the gallery. Each of the print’s serial numbers will be entered into the draw, and the prize is the four-week show.
We mean this project seriously, as an obvious dig at the random nature of success in the world of art, and also as a fundraiser for our gallery work. And we're calling on a spirit of play, of course, for artists (and others, meaning anyone who would like to join in) happy to risk a small sum for an artwork, and also, who knows, the opportunity of a lifetime.
