Jealous Gallery seeks a part time Gallery Assistant to join our team at our contemporary art gallery based in the creative hub of Shoreditch. Contracted days will be Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday on a weekly basis.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the gallery, offer support to the Galley Manager and Director and will be available to work additional days and evenings as and when needed.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, dedicated, reliable, full of initiative and with a genuine love and thorough knowledge of contemporary art. You should display a natural ability to communicate effectively with customers, artists, galleries and contractors with clarity and confidence.
It is essential that you will have front of house experience within an art gallery, exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, exhibition installation experience and excellent computer skills (including Adobe and Microsoft programmes). The role requires an all rounder, someone willing to pitch in where necessary and make the role their own.
Duties include:
Welcoming and assisting customers
Taking orders for prints and assisting with framing orders
Processing sales, both in person at the gallery, over the phone and online
Updating order and accounting systems to keep accurate records
Updating the website and social media sites
Writing for website, newsletters and proposals
Handling wholesale orders and making and maintaining trade contacts
Shipping orders and organising deliveries
Editing images and designing publicity layouts (Photoshop essential)
Assisting with pop-up events, art fairs and external exhibitions
Transporting, hanging and organising work for display and storage
Some travelling may be required.
