Angel Shed is an inclusive theatre company that has been delivering high-quality workshops and productions for children and young people in Islington for the past thirteen years.
We are seeking creative and dedicated creative volunteer practitioners to attend our weekly theatre sessions and support our children and young people, including some with additional needs.
What will I be doing? You will be attending the weekly theatre classes and joining in with all the creative activities and performing in the termly productions alongside the children and young people. You may be supporting a specific child or working with a small group.
How much time do I need to commit? We are looking for volunteers to commit to at least 1 term for consistency for the children and young people. You can volunteer on a Monday evening with our children's Theatre 1 group (age 5-7) from 4.30-6.30pm or a Thursday evening from 5-9pm with our Children's Theatre 2 and Youth Theatre groups (age 7-16). *Please note that extra rehearsals on extra days will be required nearer to the show dates.
Are expenses covered? We provide £5 expenses for each time you attend.
What skills do I need? We are looking for peope who are passionate about theatre and have had some experience with performing. We are also looking for people who have had some experinece with working with children and young people, although not essential.
What skills will I learn? You will learn to work with a diverse group of children and young people and how to engage with them creatively. You will be trained in child protection, different communication methods such as Makaton and British Sign Language and you will develop your own performance skills.
