I'm a volunteer community organiser for international development organisation RESULTS UK and I'm planning a local (east London) campaign which focuses on access to education for girls and gender equality issues at a global level. I'm planning to run several local workshops which use craftivism as a tool to symbolise the issues to raise awareness with decision makers, encouraging them to take action. There will be an exhibition/demonstration in the summer to showcase all craftivism pieces created throughout the workshops, to which MPs, decision makers and local media will be invited to.
I'm looking for artists that can be a creative lead and help to develop craftivism ideas for the workshops as well as curate the demostration/exhibition. Ideally they would also be present in the workshops to help participants create artistic pieces that symbolise issues that are important to them. This is on a voluntary basis and the ideal candidate would feel passionately about gender equality and international development.
This is a great opportunity to give creative direction in a community project and to gain experience in a creative advocacy campaign. The campaign is still in the early planning stages and all ideas and contributions are welcome. Volunteers can be involved as much or a little as they like.
Any questions then please just ask :)
